During dugeon runs, I'm finding it harder than expected to keep track of what's trapped and how long that trap lasts.  I tried setting the trapped mob to my focus so that I could see the buff count down, but that made it much, much harder to use a handy misdirect macro so that my threat was headed the tank's way.

I can use a countdown on the trap cooldown, but what would be absolutely best would be a countdown to the time at which the trap breaks.  That way, I know how much wiggle room I have between the cooldown and the trap breaking in order to find the oportune moment to mess with the trap launcher to re-trap.

Thanks,
Dash

I was having this problem and have quickly grabbed http://wow.curse.com/downloads……aspx for now, it seems to work fine and can keep track of various abilities including traps. Pretty easy to configure too. Hope this helps!

Ooh the days of none trap launcher.   I still trap the old school way,  so I chain trap.  Stay by your trap and as soon as the CD is up just retrap no matter what.   Distracting shot.. LOS.. and BAM guy is in trap away from any silly melee AOE  =D   But I'm of a older generation of hunter I shall say..

now where's my rocking chair..

And, always request to launch your trap before the pull. If the tank is asking for you to trap, say,”You got it! Just let me launch my trap before you pull if that's ok”, because it can be hard to launch your trap in the middle of all the AoE going on right after the pull, and if the trapped target is a caster, which it usually is, it can be hard to pull them out of the AoE.

@Celika – I wish I could, but my leaders want the use of the trap launcher.  I've been soloing old dungeons trying to get the timing down.

I'm sorry to hear that.     Well the add on I have SWORN by is Quartz.  I use it on my Shammy and my hunter for the timer bar.   It does keep track  of the CC count down for anything I use it for.   Elemental Bind, Hex,  or even Ice trap.   Only thing that sucks is in order to see the count down… the add has to be your target or your focus.

So a solution you can do is to get that.   Trap  have a macro that is simply   /focus hit that.. then go to dps, the timer should be there.   To me that sounds like too much work for a trap,  but if I HAD to have an add on for it.   This is what I would do,  and simply just bind  the /focus to a key close by.

Now some issues could come from this,  if you have a MD macro for a focus target,  or even had to focus something else.   IDK  at least it's a solution for maybe something temporary.

Or try to convince you leaders to not have you trap pull =P   I don't have to answer to other being an officer teehee.

I just use TidyPlates for this kind of tracking.

Fun to see all the add ons people use.   I might have to look into one of those.

So far, I've been lucky to be the one the tank's waiting for before the pull. To add a (cool) signal that I'm about to launch a trap, I cast Camouflage. I call it the Predator Approach. lol.

I like SatrinaBuffFrame for this or NeedToKnow. Both will do the job masterfully.

ElvUI (a Tukui edit that has since morphed into a life of its own) has an option that places CC counters on top of nameplates. I'm pretty sure there's a standalone version. Would anyone know what it's called?
